Oh, the Typography!

As a writer, I’ve often wondered, “Is Writing an Art?”. I set off to Google search every blog, article, or definition of the art (or craft) of writing. The best I could come up with is looking at the definition of art:

Artärt/ (noun )
  1. 1.
the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
    “the art of the Renaissance”
    2.
  2. the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance.

So… fck yeah, writing is art! Anywho…I came across this post about artist Peyer Ware on Hi Consumption:

Typographic artwork has been somewhat of a trend over the past few months, and seeing that we love anything inspired by Star Wars, it should come as no surprise that we were impressed by the work of Pete Ware in this collection typographic Star Wars posters.

The Portsmouth, England based freelance designer has utilized many of our favorite characters from the Star Wars franchise, and constructed the characters out of words and quotes that describe each one of them. Included in the series is Yoda, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker.

So what? So awesome! Though Peter Ware’s word art is more literal than say what a writer puts out, it still supports the answer to my question. Is writing an art? Yes…why yes, it is :-X
